ABSTRACT

A study was conducted to determine the feasibility of growing frafra potato (Coleus dysentericus) in vitro. Nodal cuttings of greenhouse plants were used as explants and grown on Murashige and Skoog medium amended with various concentrations of auxin, napthalene acetic acid (NAA) and benzylamino purine (BA). Results obtained indicate that the crop can be grown on NAA alone and BA alone, and also on various combinations of the two growth regulators. The crop also grew well on hormone-free medium.
